The National Weather Service in Birmingham has outlined the general timing for the overall threat from 1 a.m. until 10 a.m. However, the Townsquare Media Coverage areas are split between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist, said with “meager instability and somewhat marginal wind fields, the overall severe thunderstorm risk is low. In fact, many places won't have any thunder, and hardly any rain. If a stronger storm can develop, gusty winds and small hail are possible. The chance of a brief, isolated tornado is very low, but not zero.”
