That means intraday traders take out a position after trading on a market has started for the day, and then they close that position by selling the shares again before the closing bell. Interday trading describes trading that occurs over the course of more than one day.
Intraday traders are traders who do not hold any positions overnight, i.e., they Buy and Sell within the same day. Short-term traders are those who hold positions for a few days to 2-3 weeks. Long-term traders (also called investors), hold positions for at-least six months.
Imagine a small trading account of $1,000. When we risk 2% - $20, how big profits can we expect? If we consider the 1: 1 fixed money management rule, we can expect earnings around $20 per trade. In order to reach the average monthly salary ($1,500), you need 75 profitable trades.
There are four types of trading: day trading, position trading, swing trading, and scalping.
Many intraday traders manage to reach their profit targets for the day with a single trade. On the other hand, some traders have to enter multiple positions for the same. There is no fixed rule for the same. There are no restrictions on the number of trades that you can place during a trading day.
Day Trading? Day trading is neither illegal nor unethical. However, day trading strategies are very complex and best left to professionals or savvy investors.
The Best Time Frame for Intraday Traders
The ideal time for intraday trading, according to stock market analysts, is between 10.15 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. This is because by 10.00 a.m. to 10.15 a.m., morning stock volatility has subsided. As a result, it is the ideal opportunity to place an intraday transaction.
So, this was the key difference between delivery and intraday. According to many market experts, long-term investment gives better rewards than intra-day trading. Long-term investment or delivery could be a useful investment strategy for those who have less time to review their portfolio on a daily basis.
How long do intraday traders hold positions?
They enter and exit positions within the same day (hence the term day traders). They hold positions for hours, minutes, or even seconds before selling them. They rarely hold positions overnight. Setting stop-loss orders and profit-taking levels—and avoiding too much risk—is vital to surviving as a day trader.
Whether intraday or futures trading is better for a trader depends on their trading style, experience, and financial capacity. Intraday trading works well for traders who want to make money quickly and are used to the fast pace of the market.
A common approach for new day traders is to start with a goal of $200 per day and work up to $800-$1000 over time. Small winners are better than home runs because it forces you to stay on your plan and use discipline. Sure, you'll hit a big winner every now and then, but consistency is the real key to day trading.
You're really probably going to need closer to 4,000 or $5,000 in order to make that $100 a day consistently. And ultimately it's going to be a couple of trades a week where you total $500 a week, so it's going to take a little bit more work.
While it's possible to become a millionaire through day trading, it's not likely. Most traders end up losing money in the long run. A small number of traders, however, are able to consistently make money and achieve success.
The most profitable form of trading varies based on individual preferences, risk tolerance, and market conditions. Day trading offers rapid profits but demands quick decision-making, while position trading requires patience for long-term gains.
The best stocks for day trading are usually the ones that have the most momentum, most volume, and most volatility. Unless you want to get on the kiddy rides at the circus, you're going to want a stock that will move in either direction quickly and with a lot of force. We call it momentum.

The strategy is very simple: count how many days, hours, or bars a run-up or a sell-off has transpired. Then on the third, fifth, or seventh bar, look for a bounce in the opposite direction. Too easy? Perhaps, but it's uncanny how often it happens.
Here is where the breakout trading strategy can be effective. It is a simple intraday strategy that you can use if you expect a price breakout. A short position may be suitable when the price breaks out below the support level since the price trends downward.
